Paud Orientation

I had an amazing time at Paud today. Michael has been absolutely amazing as a guide. He practically knows everyone in the village! We tried so many different types of local delicacies and even witnessed a ritual at the village. I'm really sorry as I'm extremely exhausted right now and not in the mood to blog. Oh yeah, I most probably won't be blogging very often when classes start, which is next Monday. Plus, I have been warned not to be too personal when blogging but to me what's the point of blogging if you can't express your inner thoughts? Of course I won't blog about sensitive issues. For now, just sit back and enjoy the pictures.

Education Fair

As part of the orientation programme, we had an education fair at the Academic Quadrangle(more fondly known as the AQ) to help the first-years in deciding which subject to take for the IB. Lecturers from various departments gave a talk and explained to us what we should expect regarding a particular subject.

Here's a few pictures taken at the fair:

a scene at the corridor

students trying out experiments in the physics lab

Bartek(Head of IT club) explaining patiently to a first-year

philosophy class

more students at the corridor

students acting out a play regarding the emancipation of women

I guess that's all for now. Seriously, I need to stop taking so many pictures on campus because it might intrude on the privacy of others. So from now onwards, expect less pictures from this blog! By the way, I'm taking yoga lessons and enjoying it tremendously. However, I'm still undecided about the Triveni activities that I'll be participating in as there is so many wonderful activities to try out. There is modern dance, jazz, rugby, tennis, basketball, soccer, cage football, swimming, indian dance, active english, art, child developement(for the rural kids), MT Pune, Paud CH, Sanskar, Math tutoring (for the rural kids), paper making, IT website design, Spanish, Japanese Club,Aerobics, badminton, frisbee, newsletter, cricket,EPA(environment protection action), global affairs,Thai dance,Film club,Religion discussion, street dance, first aid, fire service, landscaping, initiative for peace, astronomy, gender and sex, french stretching, bellydancing, open studio, photography, libertarian, human rights self defense...the list goes on and on. Will blog about my decision later on. Till then...

Valentina and Zora

Remember I told you about my buddy Valentina? Well, I finally got a chance to take a picture with her. She's very difficult to find and always seem to be in like 3 places at one time. She's one of the most sociable person on campus so almost everyone knows her. She has an amazing personality and is always so much fun to be with.

A pic of me and Valentina. Do not be fooled by her innocent look. When this girl parties, she goes really wild. Smoking hookah and shaking to the beat of music.....

This is one of my best friend Zora. She plays the violin and is really friendly. We get along really well and whenever we have time we would hang out and just talk. We met at the Mumbai airport on saturday morning. We're also in the same Wada.

Ok, gotta go now. Lunch time is almost over and I haven't eaten yet!
Bueno suerto.

GAMES!!!

I had the time of my life playing silly games in the rain. There was this game where after we were divided into 3 groups we were further divided into 2 groups and then each member from the group has to hold a mouthful of water in his/her mouth and then run to the other end of the field and circle the chair 3 times while the member from the other group has to try to make the person spits out his/her water before he/she reaches the pail where the water is supposed to collected. The team that has the most amount of water collected is the winner and gets to chase the losing team and pour the water(mixed with saliva) at them. As expected, my group lost. I shouted and ran for my life(literally) when Jacob(from Germany) chased me and tried to pour that disgusting substance at me. Thank Heavens I ran like really fast otherwise....poor Bethany(from England) she was covered with saliva water.

Later that night, we had Wada games and basically it's introduction of ourselves. sigh....sometimes when everyone is so engrossed in their conversation, I feel like a wallpaper. I know that second-years have tonnes of projects and deadlines to meet but I noticed that Westerners tend to be cliquish. Some of them have groupies.

First years have placement tests today .Second years told us that we do not have to prepare for it but I just scanned my maths notes just in case because I like totally forgotten my high school maths.lolz.really hope I’ll do well in this coll but seriously,it’s crazy hectic here!we have Triveni and project weeks not to mention assignments and revision that I’m sure every college student have to face. They say that this college is more hectic than most private colleges. So if we can manage ourselves here, then we won't have any problem when we go to university.

To everyone from muwci who is reading this- I am of pure Chinese origin!!!It’s so frustrating when you have like 5 ppl coming up to you and say ‘ hey, you’re Korean right?’ or ‘ hey,so you’re from japan?’. Then when I tell them I’m from malysia and my parents are pure Chinese, they go ‘but you don’t look Malaysian!’ hello, what are Malaysians supposed to look?(no offence)

Merdeka Celebration

On saturday night, all 6 of us-phoebe,flora,seanne,me,nehemiah and roshan got together for dinner to celebrate the Merdeka Day. Phoebe, Flora and Seanne cooked while I helped to cut the cabbage. After that I went to shower and had a talk with Victor(by the way, things are okay between us right now). So I absent-mindedly went to the cafeteria for dinner, chatting with friends along the way.

All of a sudden Chitra came up to me and asked ' You're Malaysian, right?' and then I replied 'Yea. Why?' And then she said ' I thought you Malaysians are having a Merdeka celebration today?' and then I go 'Oh Shit! I totally forgot!' At that time, I took my food but thank God I haven't started eating yet. Bartek so happened to be there at the moment (Bartek is my second-year from Poland and he is an angel!). I grabbed hold of him and asked him to have my food instead. Poor Bartek.haha...He was like 'is this some sort of prank?are you serious?' Chitra explained everything for me as I have to rush to Wada 2 for the Merdeka dinner. Sorry Bartek, I owe you one! Dinner was awesome...

Life's Treasures

As I lay thinking of how wonderful college has been, even though I have only been in college for 2 days, a wave of emptiness swept over me, slowly but steadily, with each passing minute become more unbearable. I realized that I miss my family, I miss my mother who encourages me whenever I’m down, listens to me whenever I have problems and uncertainties, upholds me in prayer whenever I face life’s challenges, loves me unconditionally, and puts up with me even though I’m not an easy person to get along with. I miss my father who, although often away from home, conveys his love by persevering under harsh conditions at work, always ensuring I have a comfortable life, watches over me and prays for me ever so often. I miss my brother derrick with his quiet presence and just being there. He has been the best room mate ever! (Vitor and I had a disagreement this morning….sigh. I guess this is what happens when you put two hot headed individuals together. Anyway, I’m going to make peace with him later.) I miss Sheryl’s queer laughter, Zachary’s antics, Bennet’s funny way of talking, Sabrina’s concern and love. I miss my relatives and friends back in Malaysia. You guys are the best. Mom, dad, derrick, Sheryl, Sabrina, Zachary, Bennet and all of my friends, just know that I love you all so much!
But I guess I have to learn to be strong and face the challenges that come my way with tenacity and perseverance. I have friends here but no close friends. I guess I should give myself time as it has only been 2 days. So far, Darren from Hong Kong is like a brother to me. He actually make an effort to get to know me, unlike most of the students who just say ‘Hi, I’m … nice to meet you.’ And then go off to do whatever it is they're doing. It’s raining here and all my clothes are soaked with rainwater! But that's what makes the MUWCI experience meaningful.

Mahindra United World College of India

Sorry guys for the late update coz I have been really busy and unfortunately my room is among the few that do not have Wi-fi.aaarrrghhhh!!so I'm now at the common house rushing to update this blog as promised.

The college is extremely huge! First years are getting lost like all the time. There is a biodiversity reserve within the college plus other facilities. It looks like Taman Negara.haha..I'm placed in Wada 1 with a few other students. Zora from Czech Republic is easy to get along with. My room mate is Vitor. He's from Portugal. Really nice guy . First time I checked into my room I saw him with Megan being 'really' intimate.haha. By the way, thank you Vitor for listening to me when I set up some house rules coz seriously, the room is a mess! I'll upload a picture of my room mates later coz they're kinda busy.

I had an amazing time today playing games and sports at the social centre. Thank you, Alex for nearly tearing my arm off when we played the game (the game don't actually have a name so....erm..it is a game where a group of students grab onto each other as tight as possible to prevent the others from pulling you away from your group). I could've swore I heard a crack sound when Alex pulled me.lolz.oh,by the way, Alex is my co-year from America. Orientation lasts for a week so hopefully I'll have more opportunity to blog about it. For now, I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Ok,that's all for now. gotta wake up at 6am to watch the sunrise with my buddy Valentina from Colombia. will update more about orientation week. That is, if, I live to tell the tale.
Till then......

My Farewell Party

I had a wonderful farewell party last sunday at my humble house. It wasn't a grand party and it certainly wasn't David Tutera's kinda party. Well,it wasn't intended to be opulent in the first place. I told my mom I wanted a simple party with my close friends and teachers.

Despite the torrential downpour, almost everyone came and to be honest, my mom and I were getting worried as we catered for 60! The party was really casual and I had a great time chatting with my classmates and teachers. A few of them went into the living room to watch the closing ceremony of the 29th Summer Olympic Games.

Everyone wished me well and gave me ang paus. Some bought me presents. Thanks, guys!

I went to talk to yee zing and su ning and both of them were really sad that I'm leaving. We talked about the good times when we were the BOD of the Interact Club and what our future holds. They were on the verge of tears! I told them that I'll be back in June next year and that I'll surely go yamcha with them...haha...that's a promise!

Here's a few pictures that were taken at the party:

wow..everyone looked so happy...hmmm....it must be the food.lolz

ladies and gentlemen,i present to you my english teachers! from left to right-ms lim,pn agnes and pn theresa

The party ended at 10pm sharp. I helped my mom to clear up and arranged the tables and chairs. As I lay on my bed thinking of the party, I couldn't help but smile. Indeed, everything was perfect.

Intro

The reason why I decided to start a new blog is because my previous blog is kind of wordy and doesn't reveal much about me (I can see Calvin nodding his head). Plus, somehow, I can't seem to upload photos onto my blog. Well, as I am leaving for india this friday, I would like to share my life in india with all of my friends via this blog. This blog will serve as a platform to voice out my opinions on current issues, relationships....basically anything that I find interesting.

Do leave your comments after reading my posts. Thanks!
